Map of Seven Crosses
600 years ago, the estate of the Order of St John on Oldham Edge was surrounded by seven Holy Crosses marking its boundary.
A sketch map of 1620 gives a clue as to where they were but only where Horsedge St (extended as Hardcastle St,) meets Bow St can one of them, the Shoote Crosse, be accurately located.
