Jackson Pit
Jackson Pit, branching off the modern King St, is the point where the old lane into and through Oldham began its climb to the centre of the town. It was not just a lane but also a small community.
The buildings from the George St Chapel (Grade 2* Listed) upwards date from the first decades of the 1800s and all show evidence of small cellar dwellings beneath.
