Coliseum Theatre
The Coliseum opened in 1887 as a Music Hall with many touring companies visiting.
Following the arrival of talking pictures in the late 1920s, it had a short life as a cinema but then closed in 1932.
It was to reopen as a theatre in 1939 as a home for the Oldham Repertory Theatre Club (performances for members only), continuing as that until changes in the Lord Chamberlain’s rules in 1968 let it operate as a commercial theatre.
