Providers of early years childcare and education must follow the Equality Act 2010, and meet the additional needs of children and young people who have special educational needs or a disability wherever they can.

They should follow a process called 'assess, plan, do, review'.

This means proactively making adjustments and giving support to avoid children being at a disadvantage, rather than waiting until they are falling behind.

Schools must keep records of individual children’s progress showing how they monitor and evaluate the support.
