Window 5: That time of year at Spindles

Designed by Alison Marne Barber

Alison wanted to highlight the transformation Oldham goes through during the festive period. She gained a lot of inspiration for this piece from the building the window is based in, starting with the illustration of Spindles shopping centre to the colours that make up her handmade geometric paper cut, which can be seen in the Brian Clarke stained glass windows that adorn the roof. All paper components are hand drawn and cut by hand.

Alison is a paper artist and illustrator who lives and works in Oldham. Based at 1853 studios in Westwood, she has a real passion for geometric patterns and pen and ink drawings.
