Fitton Hill library Published: Friday, 28th October 2022

Residents can now receive support in booking GP appointments online and much more, thanks to a new Health and Digital Support offer at Fitton Hill Library.

This initiative runs in partnership with Hill Top Surgery as part of a new one-year NHS Health Education England pilot scheme and aims to help people get online for better access to health care and support.

Residents, alongside patients referred by the surgery, can now receive assistance from library staff in ordering repeat prescriptions and setting up medical accounts.

In addition, they can get help to download relevant applications as well as sourcing quality health information.

Visitors to the library can also use a private room for their online medical appointments.

Digital devices can be borrowed for free from the library too, to support residents in getting online from home, with free data packages available to use.

Councillor Elaine Taylor, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “At a time when many of our general health-related tasks can be facilitated online, this support is incredibly valuable to local residents, and this will help people to become more digitally confident.”

Fitton Hill Library is open Tuesdays, 2–5pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2–7pm and Fridays and Saturdays, 9.30am–1pm.
