Contractor engagement day leaflet Published: Wednesday, 01st June 2022

A free event to help Oldham's local businesses secure work on major regeneration and development projects is taking place on Friday 17 June.

Procure Partnerships Framework, in collaboration with Oldham Council, is hosting the Contractor Engagement Day. It will be attended by a number of contractors currently working on live or upcoming projects across the borough and North West.

They include Kier, who are delivering an extension to North Chadderton School; and Vinci Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, who are delivering a £28m expansion of the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Cllr Amanda Chadderton, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to get your business involved in some massive projects.

“We encourage sole-traders, SMEs and sub-contractors from a wide range of trades and services to come along to one of the sessions and find out about how your business can benefit.

“It’s an informal setting where you can meet contractors one-to-one and get support to help you become part of their supply chain.

“There are so many exciting projects happening in Oldham right now and in the very near future. And we want to make sure local people and businesses are benefiting from them as much as possible. So please come along and tell others to do the same.”

Oldham Council in partnership with Procure Partnerships Framework created the ‘North West Contractor Framework’ which is designed to facilitate the award and delivery of construction and infrastructure works ranging from £50,000 to multi-million pound projects with no upper value limit, for the council’s and other North West public sector bodies’ requirements.

The framework went live on 1 April this year, and is forecast to facilitate the award of up to £1.8bn of works over its four year term.

28 companies have been appointed to the framework – many of whom will be at the Contractor Engagement Day.

There will also be information on the nature and importance of delivering social value through construction and infrastructure contracts, and representatives from local charities and third sector organisations there on the day.

Lizz Lee, Social Value Manager at Procure Partnerships Framework, said: "The event will bring local Oldham businesses into the spotlight and ensure social value is at the heart of the upcoming and ongoing works in and around Oldham.

"The event itself has been planned with social value in mind, from the choice of venue and photographer to providing a platform for local charities, we have considered the positive impact and opportunities we can provide.”

The event takes place at Mahdlo Youth Zone, Egerton Street, OL1 3SE and two sessions are available.

Please choose from either the morning, 8–11am, or the afternoon, 12noon–3pm.

It's free to attend but tickets are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
