Oldham’s popular live@thelibrary is back for its tenth season and with breath-taking plays, stunning live music, side-splitting comedy and more this is set to be the best yet.

The special milestone season celebrates 70 years of the NHS, with a dash of comedy, through Mikron Theatre’s ‘Get well Soon’.

To commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War, live@thelibrary is teaming up with Local Studies and Archives to host a series of talks and performances about Oldham during the war from the frontline to the Homefront.

Dive into some of the most thought-provoking plays around as our New Writing returns alongside as well as the popular Storytelling Festival.

There’s plenty in store for the children once again this season as the ‘Library Lion’ comes to town for songs, laughter and plenty of joining in. Be sure not to miss ‘Lolly, Pops and Circus Props’, an interactive storytelling session for all the family to enjoy.

The season ends in the festive spirit with live@thelibrary’s ever popular Christmas show with Oldham Theatre Workshop. This year let them enchant you through inventive storytelling, song and laughter as they perform ‘Hansel and Gretel’.

Cllr Paul Jacques, Cabinet Member for Education and Culture, said: “Our modern libraries are so much more than book-lending services. Our staff strive to provide a wide range of services, facilities and information for residents of all ages and in many different ways. Live@thelibrary is the perfect celebration of just how much our libraries have to offer.

“This is our tenth season and to mark this milestone we have a feast of drama, laughter and much more in store. We have something for all ages and we’re supporting established and emerging local talent.

“What better way to end our tenth season than with the popular Christmas show with Oldham Theatre Workshop? I hope residents will come out and support all of these events with their family and friends.”

Booking is essential for all events including those without a charge.

Children under 12 months are free and accompanying adults must book a ticket to attend children’s performances.

Oldham Library is located on Greaves Street, Oldham, OL1 1AL (attached to Gallery Oldham).
