Something spooky is going on down at The Hub in Alexandra Park.
There might not be any giant pumpkins on show but there will be plenty of Halloween fun on offer at an open day on Saturday, October 29.
The day is open to everyone and runs from 11am until 3pm. There will be a host of activities to take part in and watch.
Why not have a go at crafting your own pumpkin, getting your hands on some ‘smelly vegetables, apple bobbing, taking part in a story time and planting your own bulbs?
To keep with the Halloween fun there will also be some birds of prey swooping in to keep people entertained
The Hub is a resource for residents of all ages and groups wanting to learn more about food growing and is part of Oldham Council’s Get Oldham Growing scheme.
Community growing sessions are held every Wednesday (10am to noon) and Saturday (10am to noon – family focussed) and are open to everyone.
Throughout the year there is a range of tasks and activities to suit everyone, such as growing salad and lettuces in the polytunnel through to picking chives, spring onions and garlic and using them to make a pizza in the on-site outdoor oven.
So if you are interested in learning new or refreshing old skills why not come along? Meet new friends, harvest what’s been grown and take home your share to eat.
