1. Budget consultation 2019/20 – we need your views
For the tenth consecutive year, Oldham Council is having to make significant budget savings. This is as a result of cuts to the funding we receive from government and other financial pressures.
Each year, this makes it more and more challenging to continue to deliver our services to you in the way we always have done.
This year we need to save over £17million and to do that we’ve come up with a range of proposals on how the budget is spent and to change the way the council operates.
You can view and submit comments on the savings proposals:
There are also a further range of money saving measures which don’t have a direct effect on public services which are not subject to public consultation such as internal restructures, budget efficiencies and contract renegotiations.
While those options are not subject to public consultation, they may be subject to consultation with staff and trades unions if they are likely to mean redundancies.
Those proposals are just that at this stage and, we want to hear your views on them
The consultation will close on 14 February and councillors will make a final decision on February 27.
