Mind

The leading mental health charity Mind offer support to better manage your mental health.

Mind - Youth in mind

If you are a young person who wants to get involved in your community, The Hive offers a range of activities to help you do this.

SilverCloud Health

If you are struggling to sleep, SilverCloud offers online programmes to help reduce your levels of stress and sleep better.

These programmes are like those you would complete with a therapist, except you can go through them on your own, at your own speed.

Support for parents who have vulnerable children aged 8–18

If you feel worried or anxious about yourself or your child, Mahdlo's Health and Wellbeing Coordinator can offer support with:

  • Worries about school or college
  • One to one support for the young person or parent/carer
  • Help to get mental health support

Mindfulness

You might find Mindfulness helps you become calmer. Mindfulness helps you learn to notice what's happening in the present moment.

By learning to be ‘present’ you can become calm and focussed.

It can take some practice, but it’s a good way of boosting your wellbeing and helping you to achieve your goals.

Use free guided meditations on their website and YouTube channel, or by downloading the free app on your phone

The Free Mindfulness Project brings together 100's of free mindfulness videos, audios and other resources all in one place:

MoodZone

If you want to check your mood, MoodZone is an NHS resource which includes an assessment tool to check this, and audio guides to boost your wellbeing and manage stress and anxiety. 

Healthy Minds – Talking Therapies

To help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave, Healthy Minds Oldham offer cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which is a talking therapy.

CBT is used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

If your child is experiencing mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties you can get help through CAMHS.

Daily wellbeing calls

If you are interested in receiving daily calls from a volunteer at Oldham Age UK, contact them on the number below.

Befriending and wellbeing

Age UK also support older residents by making regular telephone calls to local people here in Oldham.

This could include a friendly chat or catch-up to check on general welfare. It could also include making sure you have essential supplies and providing you with general information and reassurance.
