Oldham Library

Joined the library online?  

You can now pick up your library card from Oldham Library.

Which libraries can I visit?

You can now visit Oldham, Chadderton, Failsworth and Delph libraries. From Monday 14 September Crompton and Lees libraries will be opening. We will announce the opening of other libraries over the coming months as they are prepared for safe opening.

Have the opening times changed?

The opening times are as follows:

  • Oldham: Monday – Saturday, 10am–5pm
  • Chadderton: Monday – Friday 10am–5pm and Saturday 10am–1pm
  • Failsworth: Monday – Friday 10am–5pm and Saturday 10am–1pm
  • Delph: Tuesday and Thursday, 2–5pm and Saturday 10am–1pm
  • Crompton: Monday – Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am–1pm
  • Lees: Monday – Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am–1pm

Will I be able to browse the bookshelves?

Yes, you will be able to browse the bookshelves of all four libraries that are now open.

Reservations 

We are now accepting book reservations.  Please note that it is only possible to reserve books from libraries that have reopened and books cannot be picked up from libraries that remain closed.

Is the children’s library open?

Yes, we have now reopened our children’s library. Children under the age of 12 have to be accompanied by an adult.

What computer facilities are available?

Computers are available at all four open libraries. However, if visiting Oldham Library to use a computer you must pre-book a slot.

The set times for PCs on the ground floor and children’s library are:

10.15–11.15 am 
11.45am–12.45pm
1.15–2.15 pm 
2.45–3.45 pm

Set times for PCs on the first floor of Oldham Library are:

10.15am–12.15pm

12.45–2.45pm

3.15–4.15pm

You can book by phoning 0161 770 8000.

Walk-in PC access available at branches, but there are limited facilities and the usage time is restricted to a maximum of one hour.

Please note, children, 12 and under, may use the computers but one responsible adult must be present.

Can I use the toilets?

Yes, these are now open and accessible.

Is the café open?

No, for now, the café is to remain closed.

Can I buy something from the Gallery shop?

At the moment, you will not be able to purchase anything from the Gallery shop. 

Can I use the study space?

The study space is to remain closed for the time being.

Is the Lifelong Learning Centre and Gallery Oldham open?

Gallery Oldham is now open:

  • Wednesday – Saturday, 1 – 4pm

The Lifelong Learning Centre is scheduled to re-open on 21 September.
