Coronavirus: Information and advice

The Council, Oldham Foodbank, and Action Together are working together to arrange the delivery of food, medicine, and other essential personal and household items to people in urgent need.

This offer is for people, of any age, who are unable to leave the house or are experiencing financial challenges as a result of Coronavirus and don’t have a trusted friend, neighbour or family member to help them.

We aim to arrange delivery where possible within 48 hours of your call, Monday to Friday. Please note that deliveries cannot be guaranteed for calls made after 2.30pm on a Friday.

Open from:

  • 9am – 5pm on weekdays
  • Closed on Saturday and Sunday (if you have a safeguarding concern, please call the Out of Hours MASH Team, 0161 770 6936)

Text service

  • Breakthrough UK has set up a text service for people who cannot or prefer not to speak to the Helpline team over the phone. Please contact them via text on 07860 022876. Texts will be responded to where possible within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

We can support you if you need food urgently.

Personal and Household Items

We can support you if you need personal and household items urgently. This depends on the stock that we have available.

If you have been told to isolate, and you need prescription medicine, contact your pharmacy as they have a duty to deliver to you. If that's not possible, call the helpline and we can assist with arranging delivery of urgent medication.

You can phone the helpline if you are suffering immediate financial hardship as a result of change in circumstances brought about by Coronavirus.

It is normal during these uncertain and unusual times to feel anxious or low. Help is available; you can phone us if you are concerned about your wellbeing.

Outbound Calls from the Helpline Team:

The Helpline Team will be making follow up calls to some people who are shielding or who have recently undergone hospital community discharge to make sure that they are receiving the support that they need.

Take all usual precautions around incoming calls such as not sharing bank details and if in any doubt, please calls back via the Helpline number, 0161 770 7007
