Complex healthcare

For people with a learning disability who also have multiple or complicated health problems the Complex Health Care Team provide care and support.

The Complex Health Care Team assess the kind of care required and help to make sure it is appropriately provided.

The team includes:

  • A nurse to help co-ordinate care and work with staff at the Royal Oldham Hospital
  • A physiotherapist to improve physical healthcare needs
  • A speech and language therapist to help with swallowing problems and communication
  • A dietician to advise on healthy eating

The team also offer education and training to families, carers and staff.

Relationship and sexuality advice

At times relationships and sexuality can be very confusing.

There is support available for people with learning disabilities to help understand feelings, bodies and keeping safe.

The service provides clear and easy to understand information to help clients make healthier choices.
