Information for Primary School Offer Day
We understand that this can be a very stressful time for parents. You may find the following information useful.
As you will appreciate, the phone lines can get very busy on offer day and the days following. Please don’t phone us to ask us to tell you what school has been offered over the phone. For data protection reasons, we are unable to give out that information over the phone. Please note the drop-in sessions for school admissions will not be going ahead until further notice.
Finding out which school has been offered
The national offer day for primary school places is 16 April 2020. If you applied before the closing date, you will be able to log onto your online application and view the school that has been allocated to your child (please note: this information will not be available before 9am on 16 April 2020) You will receive an email on 16 April 2020 between 9am and 12 noon.
The online application can be accessed using the following link:
- Online addmisions - web page
Can’t remember your password?
If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the ‘Forgotten your password’ link and request a token which we will email to you to verify your identity so you can reset your password.
What happens if I don’t get the school that I want?
- If you are not offered your first preference school, your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list for that school.
- Details of your child’s position on waiting lists will be available from 18 May 2020 onwards. Unfortunately, we cannot give any information on waiting lists before that date.
- If a place becomes available at your preferred school and your child is at the top of the waiting list, your child’s allocated school will be amended. Please note, this is an automatic process and we will not ask you first.
Appeals process
You can appeal to an independent panel. You must do this by downloading the online appeal form and returning it to Constitutional Services. Further details of how to appeal can be found on the following web page:
- Appeals guidance - web page
The closing date to submit an appeal is 8 May 2020. If you apply after this date, we cannot guarantee that your appeal will be heard with the on time appeals.
If you wish to appeal for a school which is not in Oldham, please contact the Local Authority in which the school is located for information on their appeals process.
Under normal circumstances appeals are heard by 10 July however due to the Coronavirus pandemic the appeals process is currently under review. We will provide an update as soon as we are able to.
If you have a change of circumstance
Any requests to change your allocated school due to exceptional circumstances (e.g. if you have moved house) must be made in writing to email: ecs.pupils@oldham.gov.uk
