Tommyfield Market

  • Where: Tommyfield Market Hall, Henshaw Street, OL1 1NJ
  • When: Monday - Saturday
  • Time: 9am - 5.15pm

Tommyfield market was home to the first chip shop and is immersed in history, character and has a story to tell. Open markets were once held on land owned by Thomas Whittaker, the land soon became known as Tommyfield and it was then christened Tommyfield Market.

The market is still a very lively place and there is over 115 stalls to visit- each one offering something different.

There is a range of stalls from an artisan cheese shop, a delicatessen, Caribbean food and many cosy cafés to enjoy a hot cuppa or a bacon butty in.

It has many fresh food stalls to choose from which feature local meat products that are sourced fresh every day.

Car boot sale

  • Where: Tommyfield Market Hall, Henshaw Street, OL1 1NJ
  • When: Sundays
  • Time: 6am to 12 noon

Selling on Tommyfield Car Boot

The car boot sale takes place on Tommyfield Outdoor Market on Sundays from 6am to 12 noon (apart from Bank Holiday Weekends and on Remembrance Sunday).

Stalls cost just £14.50 each.

Please be aware that Oldham Markets only accepts payment of market charges, by credit or debit card. Payment needs to be made using the Council’s Internet Payments Service.

How to Book a Stall on Tommyfield Car Boot

  1. Contact the Markets Team and we will reserve you a stall. Do let us know if there is a specific stall that you would like.
  2. Pay for your stall online (£14.50 each)

Payment of Fees for Tommyfield Car Boot

Oldham Markets only confirms your booking for a stall, once electronic payment is received.

You will need to have paid for your stall online, either before or upon arrival, at the Car Boot in order to be allowed to set up.

On the day, Market Staff will help you to find your stall. Stall references are however indicated on the upper, side fascias of the stalls.

You can start trading as soon as you are set up.

Vehicles are not permitted on the Car Boot after 8am until 12noon.

Free parking for 3 hours is available in Council Car Parks but you must display a ticket from the machine to qualify.

Material Market

  • Where: Tommyfield outdoor market, Henshaw Street, Oldham, Lancashire, OL1 1NJ
  • When: Every Saturday
  • Time: 9am - 4pm

Visit Tommyfield outdoor market on a Saturday to view the fabulous materials from all corners of Asia.

This market also features hidden gems such as, chain store materials, River Island, Next, TopShop, home furnishings and curtain materials, all from £1 a metre.

There are some great bargains for all inspiring designers so don’t miss out!

Curzon Street Market

  • Where: Curzon Street (Oldham town centre)
  • When Friday to Saturday
  • Time: 10am - 5pm

Curzon Street Market is based in the busy Town Centre of Oldham and shoppers can enjoy a range of brand new stalls that include fresh meat, fashion, Caribbean cuisine, storage boxes, made to measure blinds and lots more.

If you’re a DIY fan this market is for you as it offers home furnishings, blinds and bedding.

Second Hand Market

  • Where: Tommyfield Outdoor Market
  • When: Wednesday
  • Time: 9am - 3.30pm

There is a selection of different stalls selling second-hand clothes, re-conditioned washers, and cookers, catalogue returns, shoes and lots of items for antiques hunters.
