So whether you’re a school leaver, a graduate, have a background in the private sector or someone with previous public sector experience we’ll have opportunities for you.

Access to our Employee Assistance Programme - a confidential telephone counselling service offering health, work and financial advice and more
Support for Employee Reservists
Oldham Council is fully supportive of employees who are existing members of or wish to join the Reserve Forces and recognises the valuable contribution that Reservists make to the Armed Forces, their communities and the civilian workplace. Additional paid leave is available to Reservists to accommodate some of the mandatory annual reservist training.
Our vision and values
To help us overcome the current financial challenges facing the public sector - while continuing to improve the way local services are delivered - we have developed a co-operative approach to the way we work.
Oldham is a co-operative borough. This means that we are working alongside residents, partners and local businesses, to improve the area and create a confident and ambitious place where everybody does their bit and everybody benefits.
To help us achieve this vision we have developed a set of values that we encourage our residents, employees and partners to live by.
What we expect from our employees
Our staff are central to what we are trying to achieve in Oldham. We need people who share our values and can help us to continue building a co-operative borough.
To help our employees have a clear understanding of what’s expected from them we have five behaviours which we want staff to drive forward and use to guide what they do.
These behaviours support our values and form an important part of the recruitment process. We will look to recruit candidates who can demonstrate their commitment to and ability to work with our behaviours.
Our behaviours are:
- Work with a resident focus
- Support local leaders
- Committed to the borough
- Take ownership and drive change
- Deliver high performance
