If you are asked to add a service that you already have access to, please do not try to add the service or request a PIN. We hope to resolve the issue soon and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A citizenship ceremony is when the Home Office invites you to give an oath of allegiance or (a citizenship pledge).

You must attend the ceremony if you wish to become a British citizen.

You will be invited to a group ceremony if:

  • Your application for British citizenship is successful, and if
  • You are 18 years or older

Your invitation will have:

  • Guidance notes explaining the next steps to take
  • The wording of the Oath or Affirmation of allegiance and citizenship Pledge
  • Your personal details for you to check
  • The telephone number and address of your local authority

Once you have received the information you need to contact Oldham Register Office to book the next available ceremony. A private ceremony can be arranged if preferred at a cost of £95.
