Act now to avoid a local lockdown

We need you to act NOW. If everyone makes these small changes we can avoid a second lockdown. Stop meeting people outside your household. Wear a mask. Stop having visitors.

Latest information and advice

Wedding ceremonies

Wedding ceremonies can recommence in a number of settings with a maximum of 30 people.

But a relaxation in restrictions to allow a total of 30 people to attend wedding receptions from 1 August has been put back until 15 August at the earliest. At present, receptions can only be attended by six people outside or two households inside.

At all times, activity linked to the marriage ceremony or civil partnership formation, all parties should adhere to social distancing guidelines. Two metres or one metre with safeguarding measures in place (where two metres is not viable), are acceptable.

We are currently working on how we can recommence the service in a safe way and will provide an update as soon as possible. We will also be contacting couples who have not already postponed their weddings to discuss the nature of the wedding service that can be offered during the current period.

Couples who have arranged weddings at non-council venues will need to be aware that the registrars’ staff cannot attend until a satisfactory risk assessment has been received.

Other ceremonies

All baptisms and social events are currently cancelled owing to the coronavirus.
