How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?By undertaking observations, tracking children's progress and speaking with parents.
How do you involve parents/carers?Communicating with parents on a regular basis and the sharing of observations and development files
How do you support a child’s learning and development?Discuss the child's developmental needs and suggest appropriate activities that can be carried out at home.
How do you meet a child’s educational needs?Implementing the cycle of observation, assessment and planning appropriate next steps.
How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?Arranging meeting to sharing information about the child's development that links to any agreed plan and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?Activities are differentiated to meet the needs of each child. Resources are made available by accessing baskets or using choice albums/boards. Resources are set out so that children can access the environment independently.
How accessible is your service, outside and inside?Accessible (There is a step down into the kitchen to access the outdoors)
How do you involve children in outings and trips?All children are provided with access to the outdoor area. All children participate on outings e.g. Parks, libraries, groups, places of interest.
How do you work with other organisations?Seeking appropriate advice and by attending relevant meetings
How do you support children when they start and leave?Providing introductory visits to gather information about the child, the child has the opportunity to become familiar with the setting with their parent/s before being left. To support transition to the next setting I would gather relevant information about the setting and support visits.
How are you/staff trained in extra needs?Completed Senco training and attend any relevant training when required.
What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?I am willing to listen to any compliments, concerns or complaint, hopefully on hearing any concerns or complaint we could discuss a way forward together. On starting at the setting you would have access to a copy of the complaints policy which outlines the procedure.
