How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?
By doing regular observations and assessments. Talking to the parents/carers on a regular basis about their child’s progress on their learning and development.
How do you involve parents/carers?
Having regular meetings with the parents or carers to discuss the identified needs and how both parties are going to work together to support the child’s progress and achieve their goals.
How do you support a child’s learning and development?
Sharing the record of their child’s development. Talk to the parents/carers on activities ideas that they can use for their child when at home.
How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
Having appropriate equipment to support the child’s Learning and development. Building positive and trusting relationship with the child and parents. Providing a secure environment for the child. Taking further training.
How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
Having access to their child’s observations and assessments records. Having regular discussions with the parents/carers about their child’s development.
How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
Assessing the children’s needs, seeking healthcare professional and parents help if needed to.
How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
In door is easily accessible, outdoor space is easily accessible but with a stair at the front door.
How do you involve children in outings and trips?
Assessing the area to be visited before the visit to make sure it is safe for all the children and making sure all the necessary equipment needed for the child are obtained.
How do you work with other organisations?
By sharing information that will help to support the child.
How do you support children when they start and leave?
Having a settling session to make the child and parent feel comfortable. Obtain as much information about the child so I can better support the child needs. Providing transition report to their next provider when the child is leaving so they know where the child is at.
How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
I am a stand-alone childminder.
What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
By completing a complain form provided by the setting and send it back to me and Ofsted. You will receive a written response within 28 days explaining how the complaint was dealt with and action to be taken.
