Description

The Psychological Medicine Service assesses patients with anxiety or low mood which is directly associated with persistent unexplained pain or medically unexplained conditions.

We also help patients cope with the adverse psychological impact of physical illness and manage long term conditions.

The Psychological Medicine Service collaborates closely with other health and mental health professionals who are involved in the patient's  care.

A key role for all clinicians working within the Psychological Medicine Service is the provision of training and support to colleagues working in Oldham within Pennine Acute Trust or within primary care settings.

The service is comprised of:

  • two Consultant Liaison Psychiatrists
  • two Cognitive Behaviour Therapists
  • two Clinical Psychologists
  • an Assistant Clinical Psychologist
  • a Team Manager
  • two medical secretaries
  • trainees on rotation

Please contact the team if you wish to discuss a patient or are unsure about how or where to refer them, or have any other queries regarding supervision, training or support.
