Things to do from home

Christmas in Oldham > Things to do at home

While Christmas will feel very different for us all this year, that’s not to say we can’t still have massive amounts of fun right from the safety of our own home. With plenty of things to enjoy and get involved in, we’ve given you some ideas for what you can do over the holidays.

Window Wonderland competition

This is the perfect project to keep you and your family occupied this Christmas. With a £50 festive hamper up for grabs too, what are you waiting for?

Christmas colouring

If you are looking to be a bit colourful this Christmas, have you printed off our seasonal colouring in sheets? Remember to stay within the lines and use though well-known festive colours of red, gold and green if you can.

Christmas concert

Sit back and enjoy a virtual Christmas Festival online from Oldham’s Music Centre on Friday 18 December.

The concert will feature groups that have been specially amalgamated from as many as 50 different ensembles that normally take place at the Lyceum each week.

All of the bands and choirs will be performing specially selected Christmas repertoire which will have been assembled digitally from all of the individual submissions.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more updates on how you can watch it from home.

Watch a Christmas film

Every year there is always some fantastic television on over Christmas to enjoy with the family, including some classic seasonal films. Do you have a favourite?

Be sure to grab a TV guide from one of your local shops to check what will be on in advance.

Holiday baking

Have you been inspired by the recent Great British Bake Off? Why not use the Christmas holidays as the perfect opportunity to practice your baking techniques and whilst you’re at it, why not build a seasonal Gingerbread house? To help you out, here’s a quick recipe on how to make one.

Choose a book

With plenty to read online through ‘Borrowbox’, why not download the app and pick a book to read over the holidays?
