Name a Gritter Competition

After years of loyal service keeping our roads free of ice and snow gritters Freddie Salted; Grittersaurus; Goliath; Walter the Salter; Gritterbug; Gritney Spears; Gritanator and Thor have retired to the big depot in the sky.

We are keeping the newest member of our fleet, Nicole Saltslinger. She still has the X-Factor and when the cold weather starts she’ll be out and about helping to keep the borough moving.

So Nicole doesn’t feel all alone this year she’ll be joined by seven new gritters we are hiring.

Now we are asking our young people to ‘prove their salt’ and come up with a name for each new addition to our team.

This competition is open to children who live in Oldham or attend an Oldham School. Entrants must be 16 or under.

Please ask the permission of a parent or guardian before entering.

The closing date is 22 October at 12noon.
