More information
Saddleworth Community Hydro is an award-winning project that generates enough sustainable electricity to power about 75 homes via the national grid from a cross flow hydro turbine located at Dove Stone Reservoir.

Saddleworth Community Hydro Limited is a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, and is made up from local and national members with a passion for the environment who each own a share in the group.

Having completed the installation, the group are generating electricity and are reaching a position where they are able to pay a return on member's investments.

The group are happy to answer any questions about the scheme, support other groups interested in undertaking a community hydro project, and arrange educational visits to the turbine.
