Green Leaders is a scheme run by Groundwork in Oldham to encourage 14-19 year olds to take ownership of their local environment and drive forward change to protect and sustain it. The scheme focuses on individual actions and encourages young people to lead environmental projects in their local area, allowing participants to gain both the practical and social skills and the experience needed to prepare them for the future and enhance employability, while raising awareness of climate change in the process.
The Green Leaders project is part of Our Bright Future, a movement of over 100 organisations who are gathering evidence about how to support the development of the environment and young people using a ‘green’ economy.
By sharing evidence, learning and knowledge, environmental choices made at local, regional, and national levels in the UK can be carried out with the support of a robust body of evidence and evaluated best practice.
