The new Oldham Food Bank location has worked with several organisations engaged in the Oldham Food Network to create a kitchen for everyone in Oldham, extending its offer from emergency food provision.
The kitchen has been funded through a crowd funding campaign, and will be used by community groups to cook fresh hot meals, and to inspire and support community enterprise and diet-related health improvements through training whilst celebrating the diversity of Oldham’s rich food cultures and building food resilience.
The kitchen contains the following features:
- Large Oven
- Blast Chiller great for preserving food surplus
- steriliser and other equipment for preserving
- a vacuum packer
- a heat sealer
- brand new flooring
- an Apple Press
Oldham Foodbank and The Real Junk Food Project Oldham offer regular updates of the kitchen's progress and what's on.
