Youth Service Charter

This Charter clearly explains what you, as young people can expect from being involved with Children, Young People & Families Youth Service.

  • Opportunities to meet other young people in a safe, friendly and non-threatening atmosphere.
  • To be treated equally regardless of race, religion, sex, sexuality, age, ability or what you look like.
  • Access to a wide range of relevant information and advice on issues that are important to you.
  • A wide range of challenging and fun activities that help you to develop new skills, knowledge and attitudes.
  • To be informed of what services and provisions are available to you now and in the future.
  • Access to the service and its workers out on the streets, for those young people who do not come to youth centres or projects.
  • To be aware of your right to complain or compliment the service you receive.

Raft Race event

You can expect staff that are:

  • respectful and supportive;
  • professional and well trained;
  • friendly and approachable;
  • supportive and patient;
  • reliable and honest; and
  • able to deal with confidential issues with respect and sensitivity.

Your youth centres should be:

  • warm;
  • safe;
  • suitably furnished and well resourced;
  • at most, one bus ride from where you live;
  • open at least one evening per week; and
  • accessible to all.

Fund raising event

How you will be involved in the Service.

  • You can expect to have your say and your ideas and suggestions will be taken seriously, respected and acted upon.
  • You have the right to be listened to and to be actively involved in decisions that affect the running of your centre or project.
  • Your contributions will be valued and recognised.
  • You will be asked your views on how the Service is doing on yearly basis.
