New Law
From 1st July 2007 virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England became smoke free. Businesses are asked to register for updates from Smoke Free England, the new national centre for the legislation. Smoke Free England will keep your business up to date with the latest information about the legislation. A new Planning Guidance Note is available to help you consider the options relating to shelters, smoking and the law (see the Supporting Workplaces page).
Enforcement Policy
All local authorities in Greater Manchester have subscribed to a common enforcement policy for Smoke free. This policy coincides with all other local enforcement concordats and principles. You can view the Smokefree Enforcement Policy here (PDF 50Kb).
