Oldham Council is working with partners to regenerate the ‘West End’ area of the Town Centre as a further and higher educational cluster.

West End Masterplan

Oldham Council appointed regeneration consultants Terence O’Rourke to create a development framework that would help direct the regeneration of the West End. The ‘New West End Development Framework` was produced in April 2006.

The Masterplan proposes the development of:

•New, specialist space for University Centre Oldham

•A new campus for The Oldham College

•Additional space for The Oldham Sixth Form College

•A Metrolink station

West End Regeneration Activity

A number of public, private and community based developments are now at various stages of delivery, They include:

•Completion of a new Oldham Baptist Church on Chaucer Street

•Completion of West Street Bus Station

•Construction of University Centre Oldham’s new building on the WH Smith Depot site

•Construction of an Integrated Care Centre on the Civic Centre Car Park

•Construction of a commercial office building on the Apple Car Clinic site

•Planning for Oldham College’s new campus

•Planning for Oldham Sixth Form College’s Regional Science Centre on the Pennine Way Hotel site
