
On the 24th June 2005, the Oldham Partnership (Oldham’s Local Strategic Partnership) launched the 1000 Days Campaign to begin the realisation of the Oldham Beyond vision by focusing on the delivery of regeneration over a ‘1000 days’ period.
The Oldham Beyond Commission was appointed to evaluate and challenge progress during the 1000 Days Campaign. Chaired by Professor Peter Roberts, its members included independent observers as well as representatives from the Oldham Partnership, the Oldham Borough Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency, and English Partnerships.
On the 19th March 2008, at the close of the 1000 Days Campaign, the Commission delivered a report that reviewed the progress made:

The opening of Hollinwood Business District’s first headquarters building (belonging to Northern Counties Housing Association)
The start of construction of University Centre Oldham’s extension
The creation of plans for Oldham Sixth Form College’s Regional Academic Science Centre and for the redevelopment of The Oldham College Campus
The occupation of the first homes to be built as part of Housing Market Renewal at Selwyn Close in Werneth/Freehold and Stoneleigh in Derker
The completion of Oldham Town Centre’s first apartment development (The Victory on Union Street)
The start of construction of a marina and Tesco store in Greenfield
The opening of Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre in the Cultural Quarter
The creation of plans for Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s new home in the ‘West End’ of Oldham Town Centre
The approval of plans for the redevelopment of Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park stadium
