The Council actively supports and encourages work life balance options for employees.
Take an unpaid break from employment for an agreed period (e.g. to pursue further education, or travel).
Work full-time hours over fewer days (e.g. nine days over a fortnight or four and a half days over one week).
Start and finish work flexibly.
The scheme also allows for flexi-time to be accrued and taken at a later date (up to two days off in a four week period).
Work at home on a flexible basis or for an agreed number of days per week.
Two people voluntarily sharing the hours and responsibilities of a full-time post, dividing the terms and conditions between them according to the hours worked.
All posts can be applied for on a job share basis.
20 days paid annual leave (25 after five years and 28 after ten years).
Take extra days paid/unpaid leave in special circumstances (e.g. to family or dependant care).
Voluntarily reduce the standard working week by working less hours
Pay is pro rata.
Parents can spend time at home during school holidays.
