Social Care & Welfare

Social care services are now delivered by two new Oldham Council Directorates. Adult and older people's social care now comes under the 'Adult & Community Services Directorate', with Children's social care part of the 'Children & Young People's Services Directorate'.

Social care services help people cope with life when things get too much. This could be, for example, because they are disabled in some way, or are having problems bringing up their children, or are getting too old and frail to manage alone, or are looking after someone old or disabled at home.

Via the two Directorates social care services are provided to people of every age and from every background, providing on-going practical help, moral support and ideas for making life more manageable. Links are also made with workers from, the health services, housing and other parts of the Council to make sure people get all the help they need.
