Glodwick Lows Local Nature Reserve

The Lows has a 300 million-year history that has seen Iron Age invaders, medieval settlers, coal miners and even a hermit!

Locally and nationally important the site is:

  • A Local Nature Reserve (LNR) - Declared in 2002

  • A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) - Lowside Brickworks.

Glodwick Lows is the only Local Nature Reserve in the Borough, covering an area of 17 hectares just outside Oldham Town Centre
