Small Community Services Project

Name of service

Small Community Services (SCS) Project

What the service is

Past experience has shown that it is not easy for small community service providers to get off the ground, with regulations and standards that need to be met, as well as getting the right people to know that they exist.

Small community service providers can access support to help to do, by becoming members of Oldham's Small Community Services Association. The SCS Co-ordinator will support, advise and signpost providers, to ensure that their social care services are operating in a way that is expected.

As a minimum standard, Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks and public liability insurance documents are checked of members of the Association. In addition, a number of individuals who use their service (or workers who have knowledge of the service,) will be contacted directly for feedback about the service provided.

Please note that membership of the association does not mean that small community service providers are accredited in any way.

Who the service is for

It is for small community service providers. For the purposes of the project a small service is one that has five or fewer paid or unpaid workers, and is totally independent of a larger organisation.
