Learning Support Units

Excellence in Cities - Learning Support Unit in Action

Learning Support Units are school based centres for pupils who are disaffected with school and learning or at risk of exclusion.

They provide short- term teaching and support programmes, designed in the main to support pupils with behavioural difficulties.

The aim is to keep the pupils in school and help to re-integrate them into classes.

There are 11 Learning Support Units in Oldham. There is an active programme of network meetings held each half term. Learning Support Unit staff also access local, regional and national training events and conferences.
