
Oldham received Pathfinder funding in September 2003. The funding was received to initiate innovative projects in line with the 14-19 Agenda for change. There are 4 key objectives for Pathfinder:
E-learning – which includes the development of a portal website ‘Fluid’ aimed at 13-19 year olds, a ‘teachershare’ database whereby staff working with pupils can access a range of resources or even upload resources for the others to use and also the development of an ‘On-line progress file’.
Keystage 4 & 5 cross borough course developments -which aims to extend opportunities for vocational/ specialist studies at KS4 & 5. This approach aims to use the specialist skills of schools and training providers to enhance the provision for 14-19 year old learners in Oldham.
Employer Engagement/ Work related learning – aims to extend availability of modern apprenticeships and focus on creating a culture of educational engagement from business, organisations and industry.
14-19 vision and strategy This was developed in 2004 and clearly outlines the commitment for all stakeholders within Oldham. movement of 14-19 education in line with government objectives.
