A national helpline which has advice and information about swine flu has been launched by the Department of Health on 0800 151 3513.
The very latest information and updates are also available on the NHS Choices website at www.nhs.uk. This includes a flu symptom checker, questions and answers and the swine flu information leaflet which everyone in the country is receiving. The website also links to essential information about travel, schools and colleges.

To kick start the summer, Oldham Council and its partners have organised a week of free fun packed activities along the Rochdale Canal from Saturday 11th July to Sunday 19th July 2009. Canal festival webpage.

The Corporate Plan, which has the title ‘One Place Many Choices’ goes to the Council’s Cabinet next Wednesday before final approval from Full Council. It will also be vetted by the Performance and Value for Money Select Committee.

The Council is currently consulting with tenants on a proposal to transfer its 12000 homes to a new landlord. If tenants vote in favour of First Choice Homes Oldham becoming a not for profit Registered Provider of Social Housing-and their new landlord-it could result in major improvements to homes and the housing service.
As part of the Building Schools for the Future programme the council is proposing to establish two new resource bases with places reserved for young people with severe and complex communication difficulties, including those diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder, at Failsworth and North Chadderton Schools.
