Spatial framework consultation extended
Public consultation on the first draft of Greater Manchester Spatial Framework is being extended until January 16, 2017.
Oldham Council and neighbouring councils have been consulting on the first draft of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework since October 31
Many public events have taken place locally and across the region and more than 32,000 people have looked at the consultation website to find out more about the proposals and how to respond to the draft plan.
This is an important plan and it has already generated a huge amount of public interest.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is keen to make sure that everyone who wants to has the opportunity to take part in the consultation and have decided to extend the consultation until Monday, January 16.
Councillor Jean Stretton, Oldham Council Leader, said: “This consultation is a chance for residents to help shape the future of the borough and the wider city-region.
“To date a lot of people have got in touch to give us their views and now by extending the deadline even more people can get involved and have their say and let us know what is important to them and their communities
“Oldham Council and our partners need to meet the needs of a changing economy and ageing population and to do this we need a robust plan to provide for our future housing and employment needs– which is what the GMSF sets out to do.”
The second draft will be published in 2017 and there will be further consultation around this and then again before the plan is adopted in 2018 when the public will be given the opportunity to make their representation to an independent inspector.
The deadline for receipt of comments is 23.59 on January 16. Have your say at
