Phase Two of the Needs Analysis has been completed and involved bringing children and young people together in focus groups to look in more depth at the needs identified in Phase One.
This ground-breaking work has included bringing together 15 schools from across Oldham for a special event at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and specific work with the Borough’s sixth form colleges, Looked After Children and children and young people with disabilities.
This work has now been analysed, not only under the five outcomes but their 25 underlying aims. The analysis shows what the main issues are for children and young people, how these needs change according to age group and areas of good practice in service delivery throughout the Borough. The work also begins to tell us how children and young people think that service delivery can be improved to meet their needs and what other services they think should be developed.
Again, this has been a fantastic piece of work that the children and young people involved should be very proud of. It is now the responsibility of services delivering to children and young people to ensure they take notice of what is being said and influence service delivery to ensure it is meeting the needs of children and young people.
A second film and a talking book resource have been produced to show the process of this second phase and enables children and young people themselves to tell you about their views and the findings of the second phase of research. Find out more about this resource by viewing the promotional trailer below.
