Neighbourhood Centre
The Oldham Primary Care Trust (PCT) Board has given approval to develop a new practice within the Hathershaw/Fitton Hill area. This is over and above the general medical services provision already provided from the Crofton Street Practice and Dr Mohanty’s Practice. The PCT are working to develop the service model and service specification for any new general medical services within the area. The PCT expect that, over the next 6 months, they will:
- Finalise and agree the service model and specification
- Agree the contracting mechanism
- Initiate and complete the procurement process.
The PCTs anticipated timeframe between design of service specification and the opening of a new practice is likely to be around 18 months. One of the options is to include the new practice within the new Neighbourhood Centre in Fitton Hill and the site for this has been reserved.
Hathershaw and Fitton Hill NDC are also working with partners to look at other functions to include within the Neighbourhood Centre. Discussions are also taking place in relation to library facilities and youth service provision.
This development has been identified, by the residents, in the Spatial Masterplan as one of the key proposals for the future development of the area.
The proposed facility could contain a number of services, which could include:
- doctors surgeries
- dental facilities
- a new library
- additional training/ community space
- relocation of villages housing
- youth facility
- new retail units
