Hathershaw North
Hathershaw North was identified as an area in need of further consultation in the masterplan. In September 2007 arange of consultation events commenced and the resulting improvement programme presented to the community in October 2007. A summary report of the consultation process is available.

The following improvement works have been agreed:
Ashton Road gateway Site:
Improvements have been made to the Ashton Road gateway site with a sculpture designed by Broadfield Primary School pupils and the local History group along with Green Monsters Arts who helped them create their ideas.The theme for the area is the Honeywell and both that and the bee theme has been incorporated into works across Hathershaw North.The sculpture is part of a package of bright, rich and colourful designs created by youngsters in the area aged 8-9 years to help brighten up the area. Th sculpture consists of 5 castings each visually representing a layer of time and telling the rich history of the NDC area, from its farmland origins, to market gardens, coalmines and cotton mills, through to its regeneration. Each casting has carvings depiciting this rich heritage and chaging landscape.

New gates have been installed to Broadfield School to improve the entrance to the school.

The area around Broadfield Street and Montreal Street is now a designated school saftey zone and has new child friendly bright and colourful safety signs installed along the theme of bees, flowers and honey pots to get the important safety message across. The signs have been created by the children of Broadfield school and Green Monsters Arts and aim to raise awareness about driving carefully, not dropping litter, the importance of walking to school and being seen and safe. Pavement art also marks ou the safe walking to school routes and flowers and bees can be seen on Broadway, Goddard and Bethesda Street. At the two crossings on Broadway Street. there is an extra bright sign which reads "Bee Bright Look Left and Right".
