Commercial Refurbishments
The Commercial Refurbishments programme aims to work in line with the residential market projects to resuscitate the commercial and retail economy of the Ashton Road corridor and to improve the structure and physical appearance of a number of properties in the retail clusters. Existing businesses will be sustained and new businesses will be attracted to the area, affording a wider choice and better quality services to the residents of Hathershaw & Fitton Hill.
Under this project funds are available for the refurbishment and improvement of commercial and retail premises on Ashton Road. The level of work to each property will be directed at the block repair of identified premises with the degree of intervention being dependent on the existing state of the properties.
Economies of scale exist from a targeted and managed group of a block of properties rather than targeting one by one and it is anticipated that owners/occupiers of the premises will contribute a proportion of the refurbishment/improvement costs. Subject to the outcome of individual property surveys, the programme will focus on the maximum level of intervention.
