My name is Graham Taylor and I am 54 years old. I have lived in the Hathershaw and Fitton Hill NDC area for more than half my life; indeed I played for many years for the now disbanded Fittton Hill Amateur rugby league team. I have two children, now adults and for many years was a single parent and so understand the trials and tribulations that this brings.
I am now disabled through Multiple Sclerosis; mainly mobility impaired and so have to use a wheel chair when out and about.
I feel that disabled people are under represent on the NDC board. I also feel that it takes a disabled persons input to resolve the many problems and needs of a disabled person, after all an able bodied persons solution to a disabled persons issues is not necessarily the same or indeed adequate and there are many, mainly access issues that need to be resolved. This will benefit both the community and business alike and help need to be resolved. This will benefit both the community and business alike and help to make the area a good place to live for everybody who chooses to live within the NDC area. I also have a qualification in sign language, Level 1 BSL.
I do not intend to represent only disable people although I would like to make it my Theme.
I am retired from work, I was part of a team that ran a large vehicle workshop for a local council and so have plenty of time to carry out the duties of a board member.
