Welcome to Oldham Council’s Adoption Service

What is Adoption?

Adoption is a legal way of giving a child a new family when their own parents cannot bring them up. It is permanent and makes the child / children full legal members of your family.

Adoption Orders are granted by the court. When a child is adopted they will be given a new adoption certificate to replace their original birth certificate. The legal ties with the child / children’s birth family will end.

You can apply to become an adopter using our online adoption referral form.
