What is day care?

Adult and Community Services provide day care services at various day centres in Oldham. Day care services aim to help older people:

  • to keep their independence and remain living at home;
  • to have regular social contact and maintain their involvement in community life
  • to experience less physical or emotional stress

Day care services aim to meet the key care needs of older adults living in the borough who:

Meet Oldham Council’s eligibility criteria for access to services and are;

  • Physically frail
  • Disabled
  • Socially isolated
  • Have differing stages of dementia
  • Have mild mental health problems

Carers services

You could be a carer if you provide or intend to provide substantial and regular support to another person.

There is a regular carers support group for people who use day care services and their carers. This enables people who use the service and their carers to come together to share experiences and infomation in a relaxed and friendly environment. Details of the support group are sent ahead of meetings.
