Donate your old bikes to Gremlins - ring Fiona Jones on 0161 284 3733 or 07789446992, or email Gremlins at inbox@gclw.org.uk. Refurbished bikes and spare parts are available for sale from the project's workshop. They also run a cycle library, and can offer training in bike maintenance and repair, and road/bike safety.

Child Advocacy International, a registered charity, collects phones and sells them on to be recycled or reconditioned to raise money to support its vital work in children's hospitals worldwide. To donate an old mobile (including old chargers and batteries) at no cost to yourself,simply send it to the above FRREEPOST address. For more than 10 please call: 0800 083 2103 (for free courier collection).

They also collect Inkjet Cartridges (and some laser but please ring first to check what is suitable). Send small quantities addressed to: FREEPOST Child Advocacy International, or ring 01782 712599 (for a free courier collection if you have more than 1 small box).

Just bring your mobile phones to any Oxfam shop, or if you're donating fewer than 10 phones, you can send them to the above FREEPOST address. If you're donating more than 10 phones, please call 0870 752 0999 to arrange a courier.

Other charity shops may also recycle mobile phones and printer cartridges, so check at your local shop.

Remember always contact the charity shop or community recycling organisation before donating items to ensure that they can accept your items.

You could also look at giving unwanted items away on the OldhamFreecycle website. Freecycle is a nonprofit organisation full of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. The Oldham Freecycle group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away, or look to acquire something themselves. Have a look at their website.
