The Local Development Framework, which will gradually supersede the Unitary Development Plan, consists of a number of documents as detailed below.

Please let us know which types of Local Development Framework documents you wish to be kept informed about:

  • Statement of Community Involvement – which sets out how the Council will engage the community in the preparation and revision of Local Development Framework documents and in determining planning applications.
  • Core Strategy – sets out a vision and strategic objectives for the Borough, a spatial strategy, core policies and a monitoring and implementation framework for achieving delivery.
  • Site-specific allocations of land – this document sets out where land is allocated for a specific use such as residential or business or retail or open space.
  • Area Action Plans – these provide the planning framework for areas where significant change or conservation is needed.
  • Development Control policies – these are policies setting out criteria against which planning applications for development and use of land or buildings will be assessed.
  • Supplementary Planning Documents – these expand on policy or provide more detail on it to help in its implementation.
  • Joint Waste DPD – this document is being prepared by the Greater Manchester Geology Unit on behalf of the 10 Greater Manchester Authorities. It will set out the vision and spatial objectives relating to waste for the Greater Manchester area. In doing so it will develop the main policies and broad framework for implementation and monitoring. It will also identify sites within the plan area.

Please note that if your details are added to the Local Development Framework mailing list they will not be confidential, but they will only be used for informing you about the various stages during the preparation of the Local Development Framework documents.
