Core Strategy Issues Survey

"Initial public engagement on preparing the borough’s new spatial plan"

The Core Strategy will be the principal document of the Local Development Framework

The Core Strategy needs to take account of a wide range of issues, which can sometimes be in conflict, in ways that contribute towards the achievement of sustainable development and inclusive communities.  For example, the Core Strategy will:

• Reflect a range of physical regeneration initiatives and priorities for the Borough over the next 10-15 years;
• Address the Borough’s future development needs, including housing, employment and open space;
• Positively address the climate change agenda; and
• Promote sustainable and accessible development.

As part of the preparation of the Core Strategy, we have undertaken an informal Issues Survey as the first public step in our engagement process. The survey will inform the production of the Issues and Options document that will be consulted upon later this year.

Thoughts and comments on the Issues Survey were invited and consultation has now ended.
