Local Development Scheme

“Managing the Local Development Framework”

The council has prepared a document - known as the Local Development Scheme (LDS) -  setting out how the Local Development Framework (LDF) will be prepared. The LDS details the number, content and preparation timescales of the various documents that will make up the LDF.

Government Office for the North West required all local authorities to revise their LDS following the changes to the LDF system in 2008. The council updated the LDS in July 2009.  A updated Oldham LDS has now been approved to include the timetable for the new joint minerals plan that will be prepared by the Greater Manchester Geological Unit on behalf of the ten local authorities.  It formally took effect on 17 November 2009. The LDS also includes details of the timetable for preparing a Greater Manchester Joint Waste Development Plan Document, which is being produced by the Greater Manchester Geological Unit on behalf of the ten Greater Manchester local planning authorities

The LDS will be monitored, reviewed and rolled forward as required.
